With only a few days to go before the California Democratic Party returns to San Diego for its annual convention for the first time since 2012, San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action were thrilled to welcome Senate Pro Tem Kevin De León for a special club meeting at the Machinists Hall in Kearny Mesa.

We were also happy to welcome back San Diego City Councilmember Georgette Gómez, who was our endorsed candidate in the 2016 San Diego City Council D-9 race, and who introduced Sen. De León. And not only is the newly-minted U.S. Senate candidate a big supporter of the environment, Kevin De León is also a San Diego native. Thanks to everyone for their photo submissions.

With that, this blog marks my final entry as acting president of San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, as the club officially welcomes a new president to take over from co-founder and original president Tommy Hough, who is now the club's endorsed candidate in the San Diego City Council D-6 race.

Please welcome new San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action president Cody Petterson, V.P. for programs and outreach Sara Kent, fundraiser Micah Perlin and board member at-large Joe LaCava as part of our line-up of new club officers
:

Cody Petterson, president
Sara Kent, vice president for programs and outreach
Fred Rogers, vice president for political action
Brian Elliott, vice president for policy
Alex Kiwan, membership
Brett Fisher, treasurer
Micah Perlin, fundraising
Cara Furio, secretary
Richard Ram, communications
Joe LaCava, board member at-large
Tommy Hough, ex-oficio (immediate past president)

Hi,

How do I join?

And, are you all fragrance free, like me? Fragrances give me a bunch of the symptoms. A third of the US population is like me, and our numbers are growing.

I and so many others in the presence of fragrances, get burning eyes, coughs, asthema, raised blood pressure, puffiness which can become anaphylaxis, lost thoughts, exhaustion ( since many fragrances are nerve poisons).

Do they bother you on you or on others in any of these places or products:

in rooms, buildings, schools, churches, airplanes, airports, stores, your workplace, amusement parks, gyms, restrooms, malls, hospitals, nursing facilities, movie theaters, or even out doors; in cleaners, dryer sheets, fabric softeners, recycled ink, recycled plastic, your mail?

The CDC has been fragrance free since 2009. What do they know that too much of the public does not?

There are healthy alternatives to poisonous fragranced products ( which often contain stuff to addict you, like cigarettes do).

If fragrances bother you or someone you love, let's form a support group. Call Pat, a fellow sufferer, at 858 455 1033 - land line with answering machine.

I and other scientists believe that fragrances aught to be banned. How about you?

I look forward to talking with you all.

Take Care,
Pat Holland

PS My email has been hacked for a long time. So, a phone conversation lets us know that we've reached each other.

Also, The Environmental Networrk of California.org has a lovely poster on its home page, upper right hand corner, with some poisons in fragrances and their health harm. I recommend you share it with folks you care about.
