For our October meeting, we present our second San Diego City Council candidate forum Thursday, Oct. 22 at 6:30 pm at the La Jolla Village Square Community Room. Our city council candidate endorsement meeting will follow on Saturday, Nov. 14.
We'll hear from District One (D-1) Democratic candidates Joe LaCava and Barbara Bry, and District Nine (D-9) Democratic candidates Georgette Gómez, Ricardo Flores, Sarah Saez, Araceli Martinez and Rebecca Paida.

We'll begin at 7:00 with club business, including the presentation of the club's annual audit report, and a vote on new bylaws changes – specifically, club endorsement process language, which can be found on pages 13 to 18 in the linked draft document.
As was the case in September, here are the rules for the candidate forums:

- As always, non-club members are welcome to attend the meeting, but only club members are permitted to submit questions to the candidates.
- Each candidate will be given a two-minute opening statement and a one-minute closing statement.
- No questions will be taken from the floor once the forums begin.
- Questions will be asked by the moderator only.
- The moderator reserves the right to ask any question of the candidates at any time, and may not necessarily use every submitted question.
- To ensure fairness, no one attending may applaud or cheer specific candidate answers, but may applaud candidate statements and introductions.
