We're looking forward to catching up with you this Wednesday, June 22 at 6:30 p.m. at the La Jolla Village Square Community Room at 8657 Villa La Jolla Dr. for our June Club meeting.

We'll begin with a social at 6:30 p.m., and the meeting will come to order at 7:00. We'll have details about upcoming club events this summer, including our second anniversary celebration, and discuss potential endorsement votes ahead of the November general election. Our June meeting will also feature return appearances by Nicole Capretz and Cory Briggs.

Fresh off a victory in Del Mar in which the city council unanimously voted to adopt a 100 percent clean energy climate action plan, Nicole Capretz of the Climate Action Campaign will discuss the campaign's ongoing concerns with the SANDAG transportation plan.

Cory Briggs will re-visit his earlier presentation to the club on the Citizens' Plan for San Diego, which addresses a potential convention center expansion, a Downtown football stadium, and opportunities for parkland and academic facilities at the current site of Qualcomm Stadium along the San Diego River.

Primary Election Successes for SDCDEA Candidates and Members

It's been two months since our last club meeting, and a lot has happened – Barbara Bry and Chris Ward both had fantastic returns in the June 7 primary, as did a number of our club members in various central committee races around the county, including (according to current numbers) Tina Rynberg, Michael Bullock, Lauren Bier, Jason Bercovitch, Bryan Pease, Rebecca Taylor, Dan Ortiz, Lori Kern, Vivian Moreno and Kelvin Barrios.

And another San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action club member had a very good primary day on June 7, as Douglas Applegate gave eight-term congressman (and occasional car thief) Darrell Issa a run for his money in California's 49th congressional district. Now that's cause for celebration!
