A Busy Night Planned for San Diego Environmental Democrats

Picture
We've got a busy meeting planned for tonight at our July club meeting at the La Jolla Village Square Community Room, located next to the AMC Theaters on the ground floor of the mall at 8657 Villa La Jolla Drive.

If you're a member in good standing you'll want to be in attendance to vote on a number of critical endrosements before the club heads into a summer recess for the conventions – and so we can plan our second anniversary event.

Revisiting District Nine (D-9) with Ricardo Flores and Georgette Gómez
Following inconclusive results in our D-9 endorsement vote in November in which no candidate reached 60 percent, San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action voted in February to return to the matter by taking up an endorsement vote in D-9 following the June primary – in which the top two vote-getters were Ricardo Flores, who finished with 34 percent, and Georgette Gómez, who finished with 30 percent.

SANDAG Quality of Life Ballot Measure
Circulate San Diego and the Climate Action Campaign work on similar matters, but their differing conclusions on the SANDAG "quality of life" tax hike and ballot initiative has exposed fault lines within the environmental community on the volume of freeway expansion to occur, as opposed to the level of benefits negotiated into the package for communities around San Diego County. We'll hear from each side on the matter and take and take a position vote.
