Opinion: The Temptation to Trade Away Effective Environmental Policy
In the midst of an extinction crisis the likes of which the world hasn't seen in centuries, driven in no small part by the impact of humans, deforestation, overdevelopment and our warming climate, it would be an abomination for Democrats to trade away the rules by which the survival of human-impacted endangered species may hinge like political currency.

Newsom Declares War on California Enviro. Quality Act
In a press conference, the governor said he wants to "build, build, build faster" in expressing impatience with the state's long-standing regulatory process known as CEQA, or the California Environmental Quality Act, and pledged to use a "strike team" to gut it. Republican Senate Minority Leader Bryan Jones said the state GOP is "eager to collaborate" on Newsom's proposal.

The Toll on California Deserts and Biodiversity
Friend of the club Chris Clarke of the National Parks Conservation Association and the 90 Miles to Needles podcast was quoted in this article in The Guardian on the impact of giant solar arrays on desert habitat and biodiversity: "The conversion of intact wildlife habitat should be the absolute last resort, but it's become our first resort because it's the easy fix."
